EFC is your Expected Family Contribution which the government calculates immediately when you fill out the FAFSA for financial aid in October of senior year. The FAFSA is free, so never pay to do the FAFSA. Use the http://www.fafsa.gov site only. You can then take your EFC and plug it into each college’s Net Price Calculator, listed on their websites, and this will give you a pretty accurate idea of what that college will likely cost you.
