Congrats, Jonlyn! You’ve won our $500 College Scholarship Contest!
A rising senior in high school, 16-year-old Jonlyn is a big fan of music and books.
In her free time, she enjoys playing the cello and reading. Another one of her favorites hobbies is going to concerts. “A lot of my friends are in bands, so I enjoy going to see them perform,” she said. At school, Jonlyn participates in her school’s theater program and is also the captain of the school color guard. As if she wasn’t busy enough, Jonlyn works as a child care provider for Grace Lutheran Church. “I’m basically a glorified babysitter,” she said. “I watch toddlers while their parents are in church.” Jonlyn’s dream job is to work in a university library.
“I love books, and working with them would be amazing,” she said. Like many high school Seniors, as far as majors go, she hasn’t quite decided. “I’m looking at several different areas right now, but my main interest is in the arts and humanities,” said Jonlyn. “I’d love to study sign language or screenwriting.” She is planning to apply to University of Pittsburgh, Tulane University, Columbia College Chicago, and a few others. We can’t wait to see where she ends up! 🙂

“I love the breadth of information on CollegeMapper,” she said. “The tips and advice on the site are invaluable.”
She particularly loves the guidance counselor powered forum.
“I use the forums the most. They’re really helpful to gauge what other students my age are having issues with, and a lot of the time I find answers to my questions in the threads,” she said.
