Congratulations to Vanessa, the December CollegeMapper College Scholarship Contest winner!
This motivated young lady is a Junior in high school and has already starting figuring out how to finance her education.
Sunday through Friday (after school of course) Vanessa goes to her job as a receptionist at a tax office. Her duties include answering phones, filing, and sending documents to the IRS.
“I want to keep myself focused,” said Vanessa. Although she’s not sure exactly what career path is the right one for her, she knows that she would like to be in the political system. “I want to be either a lawyer or a paralegal,” Vanessa said. “Or if I’m not in the political field then maybe a doctor.”
Although it’s not application time yet for Vanessa, she knows she’s interested in staying in California for college. She said she is considering Pepperdine, USC, and some UC schools including UC Santa Barbara. To help her achieve her goal of going to college Vanessa is currently focusing on applying for scholarships online, which she does in her spare time.
She also enjoys going swimming in her pool, hanging out with her friends, going to church and reading. Oh, and don’t forget about shopping.
