Welcome to another edition of the CollegeMapper vlog. Today we are talking about applying to competitive summer programs. If you are trying to get into some of the most selective colleges in the country, then you might want to consider applying for one of the most competitive summer programs in the country.
You would want to start researching these in November of your Junior year. So that you can work on the application in December and January because these programs often have deadlines in February or March. So, you would want to really be ahead of the curve and on your A-game, if you want to go to one of these very well-known and difficult to get into summer programs.
And I’m happy to post a list of some of those on the site. In fact, I think we may have already done that. Like “Tell Your Ride the TASP” program or “Westing House Science.”
So, just really do your research early on in Junior year. Start the application November, December. You probably need a recommendation letter. You certainly need several essays. Plan to submit that application in January.
Best of luck to you getting into those programs. They’re certainly awesome. If you get the chance to go, you definitely want to do that. So, good luck applying to competitive summer programs and take care!
